Hi! Just found this tribe and wanted to drop a line. I'm moving my family to Olympia from Portland in June. I've already got a job and my husbands family is from the area so we've spent the better part of 4 yrs visiting. Any words of wisdom (other than "don't rent in Lacey"- we already got that) you want to share? Where to find bike maps? beer? How cold does it really get, coz i swear those 110 miles north sure always seemed colder in winter.

(they're my peeps and have kept me on the roads for years). Don't miss the artesian well. I used to distribute bike maps bud don't know who has them now. You might check the transit center as they helped pay for them.
I am just back in Oly myself. Missing Ottos, loving the new Batdorf & Bronsons, and reveling in old favorites the Capital Theater, San Francisco Street Bakery, and Traditions...

Sat, May 2, 2009 - 11:20 PMI second the Eastside. It's our favorite place to grab a cold one while riding our swing bikes downtown. If I counted right, they have about 39 micros on tap, it's pretty good!
Ohhhh Traditions is so awesome! Not only the cafe part but the fair trade store too....

Sun, May 3, 2009 - 7:19 AMOly has a 24 hour coffee shop now! It's seriously goth, but tastefully done, and the coffee is all organic. "Sizizi's" - on 4th Avenue.
They also have free internet. I still prefer B&B by day, but it's great to have a late night option. -

Tue, May 5, 2009 - 8:14 PMyep sizizis is amazing. on the weekends the often have all night music. it's the only place around town you can hang out at night that's non alcoholic. their tea menu is quite expansive and they serve kick ass cupcakes. -
