Re: Hello?
Sat, January 24, 2009 - 12:45 PMHello.
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone home?
Come on, now.
I hear youre feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain,
Get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts:
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I got that feeling once again.
I cant explain, you would not understand.
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.
Ok.
Just a little pinprick. [ping]
Therell be no more --aaaaaahhhhh!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. good.
Thatll keep you going for the show.
Come on its time to go.
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I cant hear what youre sayin.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb. -

Sat, January 24, 2009 - 5:35 PMTo paraphrase Bette Mildler:
"Olympia is a quiet tasteful, little town and when the lights are down, you can see just how quiet and tasteful it really is." -

Re: Hello?
Tue, February 24, 2009 - 7:57 AMDon't drink from the artesian well! (if you do, you will always return to OlyWA :)
My favorite Oly activities include:
Live acoustic music at Traditions Fair Trade
www.traditionsfairtrade.com/page....html
Procession of the Species
(start planning now - this is one of the most beautiful events anywhere)
www.procession.org/
Volunteer at the Olympia Food Co-ops
(these are possibly the best food coops in the world - and if you volunteer 3hrs/week you get 25% off their already non-profit prices.
These are also great places to meet people - the other volunteers and customers are all cool)
www.olympiafood.coop/
Check out the two great local bakeries,
Blue Heron Bakery - www.blueheronbakery.com/
San Francisco Street Bakery - www.sfsbakery.com/where_to_buy.html
Of course, the top social activities in Olympia are potlucks and activism.
Get to know people and you will get invited to a potluck.
Or get out of town! You have the Olympics, the Cascades, the San Juans, Mt. Rainier...
And if you want a bigger city every now and then, you are only an hour from Portland or Seattle.
I heart Oly -

Re: Hello?
Tue, February 24, 2009 - 8:05 AMOh! and don't forget Olympia's own great brewery - Fish Tale Ales, including three organic brews.
Their brew pub makes a great emu burger, locally ranched and humanely raised.

And the East Side Tavern is a great place to do your laundry - that's right, you can have a beer and wash clothes at the same time. They have an awesome selection of craft brews and offer $2.50 pints on Thursdays.
